I Love You, Get Screened (title subject to change)
Description: According to the National Cancer Institute, screening can help detect cancer at an early stage before symptoms appear. If abnormal tissue or cancer is found early, it may be easier to treat. Various cancer organizations across the state of Indiana will discuss the importance of screening in a live-streamed discussion.

Equitable Education from Beginning to End
Description: This panel will discuss the importance of education and childhood wellbeing, the importance of finding schools where kids feel safe, and the importance of cultivating relationships between families and schools.

Systemic Barriers and the Impact on Individual and Family Health
Description: Ongoing systemic barriers can have long standing outcomes for African
Americans and their families. Food deserts, inequitable educational opportunities, health coverage and quality of care and many other issues leave children more vulnerable than others. This panel will explore those issues and a few ways to navigate a broken system and improve
quality of life for children and families.

Breastfeeding in the Community: Maternal Wellness and Nutrition
Description: Black women in the United States experience poor maternal health outcomes and disproportionately high rates of death related to pregnancy and childbirth. These outcomes are persistent due to many factors like systemic oppression, inability to obtain quality care, and many other systemic barriers.

Engaging Our Community in Language Science Research
A vital part of language science is understanding how to support language
learning among people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Research institutions have struggled to recruit participants from diverse backgrounds in their studies. This panel will discuss the importance of representation in research, with a focus on language science and how their work research helps to support effective communication among children and adults. This panel of speech-language pathologists and scientists will also talk about their recent research efforts in measuring language learning through eye gaze (eye-tracking).

Substance Use Recovery Programs and Reducing Recidivism
Description: Recovery Works Program is designed to provide support services to those without insurance coverage who are involved with the criminal justice system. The program is dedicated to increasing the availability of specialized mental health treatment and recovery services in the
community for those who otherwise face incarceration. Recovery Works supplements
community supervision strategies to decrease recidivism.

NAMI In Our Own Voice
Description: The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Indiana presents NAMI In Our
Own Voice, featuring trained volunteers living with mental health conditions who will share their personal stories, including what happened, what helps and what's next. In sharing their own experience, these presenters hope to dispel stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding mental illness. Audience members will have the chance to ask the presenters questions, allowing for a deeper understanding of mental health conditions. This presentation will provide
information on how to learn more about mental health and getting involved with the mental health community. * The goal of this presentation is that audience members leave with an understanding that every person living with a mental health condition can hope for a brighter future.
